Desktop Icons become ugly After using Rebuild Icons Feature in Tweak UI

I have installed Tweak UI on my Computer running Windows XP Professional Edition.

After using the Rebuild Icons feature in Tweak UI the icons become so ugly (such as the 16 color mode).

Take the look of older windows version such as Window 95 or maybe a bit older than this. It turns my icons into a lower resolution maybe Tweak UI made changes to my screen resolution but that would be my assumption.

I capture some of the icons for you to look at.

Here are the ugly icons after using the Rebuild Icons Feature in Tweak UI.

I have rebooted my computer thinking that the effect would change after restarting my computer, but nothing happens.

Instead of rebuilding my Windows XP icon to make it more attractive the result was opposite.

Dear Adelyn,

The software you are using may be pirated. However you can go back to your previous look by a system restore. Hope you know this how it works. After restoring your Windows from system restore, you then use any other style icon to stylize your Windows . The best suggestion is to use the Windows 7. Because it contains the built in style icons…

Enjoy it..

Hello Adelyn,

It seems you are not using Tweak UI 1.33. The older versions are not compatible with Windows XP anymore. Try using Tweak UI 2.1 (the latest version). I can help you to overcome the problem.

Otherwise try doing this. Go to Control Panel then find out the Display option and select the screen resolution select a deep color resolution and also choice 32bit.

If although I do not work on your machine then please contact with your graphics vendor company and ask for a help. And also try updating your graphics driver. It can be found in the respective website of that company.

Thank you,

Riley weaver.

If you installed Tweak UI and you did not like the result after applying the change or the tweak, the application includes a restore button to allow you to restore the settings back to the original one. All changes made to the system will be removed. Start Tweak UI then click the “Restore Factory Settings” button.

There is one for the mouse located in the “Mouse” tab so there should also be another one on the other tabs. Just go to the tab where you didn’t like the effect of the tweak and click the restore button. It should change the setting back to the original one before you installed the program.

I’m not sure what version is that but if you want to try a newer version, download Tweak UI 1.33 on MajorGeeks.com.
