The Google Toolbar is simply a web browser toolbar developed by Google and is intended for the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser. Its initial release was in 2000 for Microsoft Internet Explorer 5. The toolbar was also supported on Mozilla Firefox from September 2005 to June 2011. When installed, the toolbar provides a search box to perform web searches and resides above the browser’s tab bar.
It allows users to login to their Gmail accounts and access their email and saved bookmarks as well as web history. It includes tools like Translation, spell checker, AutoLink, and AutoFill while word finder and pop-up blocker are restricted to Microsoft Internet Explorer. This toolbar is frequently distributed via product bundling with a primary download.
