What is the difference between windows NT and windows server?

I was thinking that Windows server and Windows NT are same but now I have come to know that both are different.

That is why, I would like to ask the experts to tell me the difference and their applications about in which field and for what the purposes they are used?

What is the difference between windows NT and windows server?

The difference between them is that:

Windows NT is a type of a Microsoft Windows personal computer intended for businesses and users requiring advanced capability.

NT's know-how is the foundation for the Microsoft descendant operating system (Windows). Windows NT (which may initially mean ""New Technology"", though Microsoft doesn’t 'really verify) is in fact of two products:

1.   Microsoft NT Workstation and

2.   Microsoft NT Server.

The Workstation is intended for clients particularly business users, who require quicker performance and a system that is more protected than Windows 95 and/or others.

The Server is intended for business equipment that desires to offer services for network-attached personal computers.

The Server is required, together with an Internet server such as Microsoft's Internet Information Server [is], for a Windows system that tactics to serve Web pages.

Windows Server 2003 square measure completely different From windows NT Biggest changes are:

1. Active Directory for User Rights Management

Windows NT (Windows New Technology) may be a 32-bit software system powered by Microsoft for Intel 86 Bit CPU. It has bottom of technology for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It's features are advanced security, body options, pre-emptive multitasking, and integral networking.
