Hi,
I had a problem with my internet browsing. My internet explorer will sometime get confused on a certain link on a web page. I am using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 as my browser. When I go across a site, and there is a link, when I click on the link an error will pop-up that tells me The instruction at “0x044d2bf2” referenced memory at “0x04576ae8”. The memory Could not be “read”.
iexplore.exe – Application Error
The instruction at “0x044d2bf2” referenced memory at “0x04576ae8”. The memory Could not be “read”.
Click on OK to terminate the program
OK
But there are also times this link will run. I asked a friend of mine, if he could get into that link, fortunately he can click on the link and load the page, so therefore it's not with the site that hampers me from getting in that link. I suspect there is something wrong with my internet explorer browser.
Please help me solve this link issue.
IE6 the memory could not be read error
Paulartney, this error is quite common. There is actually nothing wrong with your Internet Explorer. Due to usual default Internet Options setting, your Internet Explorer is sensitive to memory protection to ensure security. You just have to change one setting by following these steps:
-
On the upper right hand corner of your Internet Explorer window, you can find the Tools button. Click it to show your Options.
-
Choose "Internet Options" on the list. This is usually at the bottom of the list. A window will appear so you can change your settings.
-
From the tabs located at the top part of the window, pick "Advanced". Doing so will show a list of grouped check boxes.
-
Scroll down the list to look for the group labeled "Security". Under this group, uncheck the box marked "Enable memory protection to help mitigate online attacks".
-
Click "Apply" at the lower right-hand portion of the window. Close the Internet Options window and Internet Explorer.
Your problem will stop occurring after you reopen your Internet Explorer. If the problem persists, then the possible problem is your version of Internet Explorer. You need to reinstall if this is the case.
I hope this method helps you. Good luck!
