Delete temporary files?
Audacity is showing an error when launched
Hi Joseph,
If Audacity is not shut down properly or the application crashes, it will leave behind a number of temporary project files on your system. It saves projects with naming as "name.aup" and also a folder namely "name_data", containing the data for that project.
Usually these temporary files will be found in your Documents and Settings folder in the location
"C:DOCUMENTS and SETTINGS….TEMPaudacity_1_2temp"
If you do not want these temporary files, you need to Delete them from your hard disk. The steps are as below:
1) First Shut Down the Audacity application properly
2) Navigate to the temporary file location "C:DOCUMENTS and SETTINGS….TEMPaudacity_1_2temp"
3) Manually Delete any audacity files or folders present in that location
4) Restart Audacity application and it should work properly
If you do not want to delete those temporary files, you can retrive them manually or using Audacity file recovery utility software.
This recovery instructions document link shows the instructions on how to retrive the temporary files.
