Micromax announced Yuphoria smartphone in May, earlier this year. It made its way into the market following the announcement at an affordable price of Rs 6,999. Much of the hype surrounding around the Micromax’s Yu line of smartphones was mainly because, the phone came with Cyanogen OS 12 pre-installed. Cyanogen OS is known for its enhanced features , excellent customizability and other additional features like PIN scramble, Themes, Audio FX and Privacy guard. It enhances the privacy and security of the device.
However Micromax has announced an update for its Micromax Yuphoria smartphone on Monday. The new Yuphoria now retails for a price of 6,499 on the Amazon store which is 500 Rs less than the price when it was released into the market in May. It is interesting to note that the new updated Yuphoria now runs near stock Android, not the Cyanogen OS 12 which was preloaded when the phone was initially launched in May. Micromax also announced that newly released Yu Yureka Plus and Yunique will also run Android 5 with near stock android, but not the Cyanogen OS.
This perhaps indicate that all is not well between Cyanogen and Micromax as the latter removing the highly popular Cyanogen OS, (which actually made the Yu line of smartphones unique) from its devices. Miocromax Yu smartphones now come with Android 5 Operating system with its near stock avatar.
To recap the Yuphoria smartphone comes with 5 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720X1280, with ~294 ppi pixel density. It has Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, Quadcore processor and comes with a 2GB ram and 32 GB rom.It also has a Micro SD slot for expansion. It also supports dual sim. It is protected by a gorilla glass 3. It has a 8 MP rear camera with a autofocus and LED flash. It can record videos at Full HD. It has a 5 MP front camera. It comes in two colors e Gold and Black/Silver.
