Can I fix illegal operations in Windows XP?

Can I fix illegal operations that is running in background in windows XP as it makes my computer very slow. I tried by using task manager but its of no use.

Hey Christian Briggs,

The best way to terminate the background application is to kill them from Task Manager by pressing Alt+Ctrl+Del. As you have mentioned above that it was useless to terminate these processes from Task Manager so you can use software to terminate all illegal processes. I would like to recommend you software, named as STARTER. This software is the best software to kill all the illegal process and even all startup process. Hi Christian Briggs!

You can manage your system process by opening System configuration Utility.

In Run type: msconfig or msconfig.exe

SCU windows will open; you can uncheck (disabled) unwanted Startup utilities and services by this. Do not forget to apply all changes.

Can I fix illegal operations in Windows XP?

You cannot just select any background programs that you think is causing illegal operation just because your computer is slow. An “illegal operation” is a kind of error thrown by a program during its operation. It is a computer program error, not an actual program. Terminating a program running in the background using the Task Manager can have a bad effect on your system.

If you don’t know what program to terminate I recommend that you refrain from doing so. If your computer is very slow, try scanning your computer with your antivirus. The most common cause why a computer is very slow is an infected system. Update your antivirus and run a full system scan on your computer. Once the scan is complete, rescan the folder called System Volume Information.

You can find it in the root of the drive. Double-click My Computer the go to Tools and then Folder Options. Select View tab then scroll down. Under “Hidden files and folders” section, select “Show hidden files and folders”. Uncheck “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)” then click OK.

Go to drive C, right-click on System Volume Information folder, and then select your antivirus to scan the folder. This is just to make sure that the folder is scanned because some antivirus programs exclude this folder from getting scanned by default like the previous Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus.

If no virus was found, try cleaning your system from unwanted files such as temporary files, browser history, cache, cookies, and recycle bin contents. Go to CCleaner Free Download then download and install CCleaner. Once installed, run the program to clean your system from unwanted files. If you want to register your copy of CCleaner, go to CClener License Codes and select the key.

Use 7-Zip to unpack the file. Download 7-Zip from 7-Zip File Compressor if you don’t have it. Once unpacked, open the file using Notepad and copy the license code to register CCleaner. After cleaning your system, you should defrag your hard drive. This improves the performance of your machine.
