What is Robotics and its Importance?
Any machine that is capable of carrying some sequence of actions automatically is called a Robot. To make it work, you need to program its functionalities and constraints. The study of Robots is called Robotics. From the beginning, Robots were used for entertainment purposes. But, there is a rapid change in the use of Robots from the 20th century. Robots have increased the level of living for humans in the following years, by creating a safer environment for labours, changing the structure of society. Now, Robotics is being developed drastically in such a way that it is used in the implementation of space exploration and landscape of national defense in NASA and military. Robots are also being used in media and toy manufacturing services. It is not exaggerating if I say that Robots will lead the future generations and Robotics becomes the highest degree of education.
Significance:
Robotic work has drastically changed the profits and definitions of the industry. As we know that people lose their lives in wars and dangerous experiments. But now, these Robots are taking over the positions over duties of mundane and dangerous jobs from a human. This leads to greater productivity as Robots never tire and never makes mistakes even though they have been added with extra shifts of work. These Robots are being used almost everywhere. Automated harvesters are the Robots for farmers, whereas waste disposal industry is using Robots for some of its dirtier jobs. Mainly, advancement in surgical Robotics helps the medical industry.
Features:
The main motto for advancement and development of Robots is that they can take certain positions of humans and save them from the jobs that are dangerous, dull, and dirty. Not only for the works in factories, but Robots are also being used in space exploration and for performing other tasks which are impossible for humans to do. They are faster, accurate, and consistent.
Considerations:
Between our fascination and the interest with real-life Robotics and their counterparts, Robotics has gained its craze even in the field of media. In the film, Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis”, the first instance of Robotics has taken place. This introduced the programmed Robots, which functions as humans. This made the Robots more wanting in films, and they appeared in more films such as “Forbidden Planet”, “I Robot”, etc. and also in some other television shows such as “Star Trek”.
Robots have portrayed both starkly simplistic and elaborately sophisticated characters such as heroes and villains in modern cinema. A new culture of Robotics has begun from the movie, “The Terminator” which used scary yet fascinating machines.
Misconceptions:
From the microwave in most of the kitchens to a DVD burner in a computer, modern Robotics is present almost everywhere in the society. The computerization of every appliance is made possible with the invention of the microprocessor in 1971. It is the tool that modern home has used. To reduce the likelihood of fire, stoves and toasters, we use microprocessors that control sensors. To enhance interaction, cellular phones implement virtual memory. For entertainment and education purposes, most of the toy stores included hundreds of Robots.
