Laptop As Wi-Fi Router Possible?
Yes it is possible! Your laptop must be first wired connected to the internet. Then follow these steps:
For Windows XP:

Go to Control Panel.

Click Network Connections.

Right click Wireless Connection then select Properties.

Click the Wireless Networks tab.

Make sure that "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" is checked.

Click Add under preferred networks.

Setup a Network name.

Select Shared under Network Authentication.

Select WEP as data encryption then type a Network key and click OK.

Click Advance button.
-
Select Computer-to-computer (ad hoc) networks only then click close
The wireless connection is all set, now setup the wired connection as shared.

Go to Local Area Connections.

Right click it then select Properties.

Click the Advance tab.

Under Internet Connection Sharing, check "Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection".

Make sure the box under this item is unchecked.

Click OK.
For Windows Vista:
-
Go to Control Panel.
-
Click Network and Sharing Centre.
-
Select "Setup New Connection" Under Tasks.
-
Select Wireless Ad-hoc network

Type in the desired Network Name.

Choose a WEP password to secure the connection.

Click “Internet connection sharing.
For Windows 7, the steps are somehow similar to Windows Vista. But, you can also try and use a software such as Connectify (Download here:Â http://www.connectify.me/almost-there/) that will setup a wireless hotspot for you.
