NFC is something which is not very attractive, and not many manufacturers have integrated NFC into their products, but it is a great form of data transfer between NFC-enabled digital devices. NFC uses electromagnetic radio fields much similar to what Bluetooth and Wi-Fi use. It’s just that there are proximity issues (NFC only works in the range of 4-7 cms) which make this technology less feasible. Near Field Communication (NFC), a technology very well-rehearsed in the past was not booming up to its ego-centric functionality. It is an excellent communication medium which handles the transfer of content from one device to another without much pain of switching on/off anything and no buttons are to be pressed for it to operate.

Just recently at the Google I/O 2016, Ellie demonstrated ‘the Instant App functionality’, this time when at a parking meter — she taps the NFC tag on a parking meter that she doesn’t have the application. It fetches the necessary components, prompts her for payment, and she’s done.

One interesting thing you as a user can do is if you have an NFC-enabled smartphone, one can buy NFC tags and program it according to your needs such as at home; you can specify to connect to Wi-Fi, turn off mobile data, play music, etc. NFC, still quite on a beta stage is expected to grow with its need.
