If you are using a Windows Server, the LAN or Local Area Connection is automatically created for each of your detected network adapter. If you have several adapters installed, all you have to do is rename each of them to avoid confusion when connecting. In case you only have one network adapter and need to connect to several LANs then just enable the components of your network then disable it after disconnecting. To enable or disable your network connection, all you have to do is:
Here is how you set up LAN connection:
IF You are a Windows XP User: Click start >> My network places >> View network connections. Then Right click on ''local area connection'' then click on properties. double click on 'internet protocol (TCP/IP)'. Click on 'use the following IP address' .Use IP address say 192.168.100.1 and in the default gateway say 192.168.100.2 and click ok. Note: You are free to use other ip addresses.
If you are Windows Vista User:
Click on Start>>Network >> Goto Network and sharing center >> manage network connections
Right click on 'local area connection' and then you need to click on properties. Double click on ''internet protocol (TCP/IP)''
Now click on 'use the following IP address' . Use IP address say 192.168.100.1 and in the default gateway say 192.168.100.2
than click ok.
Now try and enable the network area connection.
