I come to this forum to ask for help. After searching the forum, I haven't found the solution to my problem. That, my friend just installed Windows 7 (32-bit system) on his laptop Dell Inspiron 1525. Everything seemed to work perfectly after installing the audio drivers for Vista 32-bit (not for Windows 7) available on the Dell website.
However, I have just noted a problem. Even if the sound works well, its built-in microphone does not work (either with Windows recorder or Skype, etc.). The addition of a micro USB has not changed except that now it means talking into the microphone, but no sound is recorded and the caller can not hear anything on Skype.
Is it possible to find a compatible driver? Thank you.

Dear James,
Dell not gives a sound driver for Windows 7 of Inspiron 1525 so you face this problem but I have a solution. Just follow the instructions and you will get rid of this issue.
First uninstall your sound driver and download latest driver of Windows Vista 32 bit from website and leave the exe file in a folder some where. Then right click on ‘My Computer’ and choose ‘Manage’ then ‘Device Manager’. In the sound, video and game controller group, you would saw a device call ‘Windows High Definition’. You should delete this by selecting and pressing Delete button.
After removing this device you should run the Dell sigmatel driver exe file which you are downloaded. Your system will prompt for a restart upon installation. When you restart your system, you will get the sound of Windows and your microphone will now be well working!

It seems you are having trouble of not finding a driver to work your Microphone. Please note that microphone driver comes as a package in the audio driver category. Please search the box of your laptop or netbook to see if you have a CD written drivers and manuals.Â
Just insert the CD and click next and go and you can install the audio driver and this is the best and easiest method to do. If you can’t find the CD means you have to download manually and install it.
You can get all drivers of your laptop from this: Dell Inspiron.
In that find the audio drivers and install it. Good luck.
Need Driver for Dell Inspiron 1525 Microphone
If the sound works but not the microphone, one reason for that is because the drivers available for Dell Inspiron 1525 are for 32-bit Windows XP and Windows Vista only. No driver is available for Windows 7 and higher. To make the microphone work again, you need to install the compatible version of the sound card driver.
Now, since the Dell website doesn’t provide a version for Windows 7, you can download the driver from the sound card manufacturer’s website. The Dell Inspiron 1525 has a SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD sound card. If you can find the manufacturer’s website, you can download the driver from there. Another way is from the Microsoft catalog website. Go to Microsoft Update Catalog – SIGMATEL.
This link searches the catalog for SIGMATEL drivers. Try downloading which version of the SIGMATEL driver will work on your computer.
