Hi Herbert Welling,

Obviously, you cannot apply live wallpaper in your phone maybe because it is not supported by Android “Éclair” or Android version 2.1. Live Wallpaper is supported by Android “Froyo” or Android version 2.2. Just download the upgrade version from the manufacturer’s site, or from a reliable source.

Well, there is another way though to use live wallpaper while it is still in Android “Éclair” or Android 2.1; however, it is too risky because it will destroy the validity of your manufacturer’s warranty, or worse you might destroy your system causing your phone not to completely function. I think you know what I mean; I am talking about rooting your android phone. If you really are that determined, then refer to this links.

Actually, there are complications on the Android operating system whether they support live wallpapers or not. Your Samsung I5801 Galaxy Apollo Smartphone runs originally on Android 2.1 Eclair and can be upgraded to Android 2.2 Froyo. According to LiveWallpapers.org, the official website for live wallpapers, the first condition to run live wallpapers is to have a Smartphone that runs on Android 2.1 Eclair or higher.

So, checking the mobile operating system running on Samsung I5801 Galaxy Apollo, supposedly your Smartphone is able to run live wallpapers. But since you said your phone doesn’t seem to support it, this confirms what LiveWallpapers.org said. They said even if your Smartphone supports live wallpaper, it doesn’t guarantee that every wallpaper will be supported. Like any other apps, live wallpaper can have limitations.

If the live wallpaper you are installing doesn’t seem to be supported, try other live wallpapers. If there isn’t a single live wallpaper that can be installed, try upgrading your mobile operating system to Android 2.2 Froyo. Because of the number of questions and complaints LiveWallpapers.org received regarding live wallpaper and the users’ Smartphones, LiveWallpapers.org provided the list of supporting and non-supporting Smartphones.

For the supporting Smartphones, see the following list.

  • Acer – Liquid e
  • HTC – Aria, Droid Incredible, Desire, Desire HD, G2, Legend, myTouch 3G Slide, Nexus One, ThunderBolt
  • Huawei – Ascend
  • LG – Ally, Optimus M / MS690, Optimus S / LS670
  • Motorola – ATRIX 4G, Charm, Droid 2, Milestone 2, Droid X
  • Samsung – Captivate, Epic 4G, Fascinate, Galaxy 5 I5500, Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Mini, Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, Replenish, Vibrant
  • Sony Ericsson – Xperia Arc

For the non-supporting Smartphones, the following list of Smartphones doesn’t support live wallpaper though they are based on Android 2.1 Eclair and higher. See the following list.

  • HTC – G1, Droid Eris, myTouch 3G, Wildfire
  • Samsung – Galaxy 3 I5800, Galaxy Spica, Moment, Transform

For complicated Smartphones, LiveWallpapers.org can’t classify if the following list of Smartphones support live wallpaper or not.

  • HTC – Dream, EVO 4G, EVO Shift 4G, Hero
  • LG – Optimus GT540, Optimus One, Optimus T
  • Motorola – Droid, Milestone, BACKFLIP, CLIQ, FLIPOUT, SPICE XT300
  • Samsung – I5510, Intercept
  • Sony Ericsson – Xperia X10, Xperia X10 mini, Xperia X8
