Hi,

How to generate .com file? Please also tell me about the difference between Application Programming and System Programming? Waiting for good answers.

Tell me How to generate .com file

Hi,

For Borland C 3.1:

1- Copy myfile.c into BIN folder of BORLANDC.

2- From command prompt go to BIN directory. You will see C:BORLANDCBIN> at command prompt.

3- Type this command. bcc -eMYFILE.COM -IC:borlandcinclude -LC:borlandclib myfile.c

4- Now myfile.com is generated in BIN directory. Now type myfile.com to run the com file.

For TurboC 2.01:

1- Copy myfile.c into folder TC.

2- From command prompt go to TC directory. You will see C:TC> at command prompt.

3- Type this command. tcc -eMYFILE.COM -IC:TCinclude -LC:TClib myfile.c

4- Now myfile.com is generated in TC directory. Now type myfile.com to run the com file.

The main difference of systems programming when compared to application programming is that application programming aims to produce software which provides services to the user (e. g. word processor), whereas systems programming aims to produce software which provides services to the computer hardware. It also requires a greater degree of hardware awareness.

In other words application programming facilitates the implementation of required processing that software is supposed to perform and system programming facilitates the acquisition of data from input devices and output of data to output devices.

I read your question and it is talk about the difference between application programming and system programming, The application programmers build an application, application programs include websites, video games,iPhone application, Microsoft word, web browsers and other programs that people use for entertainment, communication and getting work done. Application software interacts with people or users. Now let’s talk about what is system programming?

System programming is creating technology that programmers use to build application. In order for an applications programmer to build an application, he needs operating system database systems programming languages software libraries software that controls hardware very directly software exists in layer.

Application software makes system software do work. System software makes the physical machine do work.
