Skype on android phones and mobile phones

I'm wondering if I can use my phone as a webcam or fro video call. Is there any application that allow Skype's video call or any video call on android phones and mobile phones?

Yes there are many applications that help you in video calls and webcam usage on mobile and android phones. Simply go to the link and download Skype application for your mobile.

 

Skype works really well and its quality of picture even on mobile phone is best. I myself experience Skype on my Nokia and even on IPhone, voice clarity and clean picture is there. On Nokia mobile you can also download by going to OVI store.

Hello Alwyn White,

 

Skype can definitely be used for voice calls and video calls on your mobile phone. 

 

First, you need to make sure that your phone meets the minimum requirements for Skype video calling.

 

For Android:

 

• 800 MHZ processor
• Android  version 2.2 (Froyo) or higher
• Newest version of Skype for Android
• Internet connection, (3G or WiFi connection)

 

Skype video calling utilizes your mobile phone's front and back camera. If your mobile phone is running Android 2.2 (Froyo), you will only be able to use the back camera of your device.

 

For IOS users (IPhone, IPad, IPod):

 

• An IPhone 3GS device or later
• IPod Touch 3rd Generation or later
• IOS 4.3 or higher

 

For IPhone 3GS users, Skype will only use the back camera

When Skype was first launched, it was designed for use on PC since there was no Android phone yet that time. Skype was first released in August 2003 and was later acquired by eBay on September 2005 for about $2.6 billion. Then by September 2009, 65% of it was acquired from eBay for $1.9 billion by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Andreessen Horowitz, and Silver Lake.

In May 2011, Microsoft acquired Skype for $8.5 billion. It was on June 17, 2013 when Skype was made available on Android when it released a free video messaging service. If you want to use Skype on your Android Smartphone, you can download it from Skype on Google Play. Compatibility varies depending on device. For users with iOS device, download Skype from Skype for iPhone.

It requires iOS 8 or higher and supports iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
