Hi,

What is the use of watts when powering machines like computers? I ask this because I want to power a Hercules 9800XT and an Asus A7N8X-EAMD XP2700. Can 300W do? Any answer?

Thank you.

Hi Qacha,

Power is important in running your computer. Insufficient power supply could cause you system to malfunction and not run properly. Before installing any graphics card / video cards, you need to check your powersupply if it can carry such load. You might as well check the compatibility of your video/graphics card with your motherboard.

Hope this helps.

Hi there, computer power supplies are measured at the maximum wattage they can put out. Also, a computers power requirements vary depending on what the computer is doing, so a computer power supply should at least be of the same, and ideally of greater, wattage requirement of the computer when under it's heaviest load. Please check the power requirements of the crads (Hercules and Asus) and see if they match 300w. If their power requirement is less, then 300W power supply is sufficient, else you will need greater power supply.
