Hi there,
My IPOD touch 4th Gen came to contact with some naked battery wires the other day and the screen became non responsive, display is okay but it doesn't respond to touch, I have tried plugging the iPod to my laptop and iTunes recognizes it but the screen remains unresponsive, how can I restore the touch screen responsiveness? How does static charge affect touch screens?
There are some ways that you can try to restore the touch screen responsiveness of your iPod. You can try applying a little pressure on the bottom right corner and back and your iPod’s touch screen may respond. You can also take the device back to its manufacturer so that the screen can be replaced. Static charge affects touch screens by building up static electricity in the screens and thus making them unresponsive. I hope this information helps.
If the screen of your iPod touch is frozen or non-responsive, there is a workaround for phones with broken screen on Android that might work in your device. To make navigation possible, you need a USB mouse and a USB On-the-Go (OTG) cable for iOS like this one: PinPle Lightning to USB Otg Cable. Since the screen touch is frozen, navigation by touch is not possible.

With the use of the mouse and the OTG cable, you can make navigation on your device possible. Connect the USB mouse to the OTG cable and the OTG cable to your iPod touch. Now, see if you can navigate your way around on your device. Before doing this workaround and buy a cable, try rebooting your device first to possibly fix the frozen touch problem.
To reboot, press and hold the sleep/wake button at the top corner of the iPod touch until a slider bar appears that reads “Slide to Power Off” then release the button. Move the slider from left to right to power off. Once the device is off wait about thirty seconds (30) then press and hold the sleep/wake button again until the Apple logo appears.
Release the button and let the device start normally. If this doesn’t fix the problem, try hard reset. Press and hold the sleep/wake button until the device turns off and then back on again. When you see the “Slide to Power Off” slider bar, just ignore it and continue pressing. When the Apple logo appears, release the button and let the device boot.
If this doesn’t fix the problem with the frozen touch, you might as well try the mouse and the OTG cable to navigate.
