Hi All,
I am having a difficulty working out one of my PST files. It is actually a year old that the rest of my PST files. I am not sure if that has something to do with my problem.
Anyway, I have some clean up of my computer such as defrag and cleaning of old file stuff. Then after checking my old external HDD, which is where I saw my old PST, I transferred it to my Vista laptop. But, I was not able to open it in outlook. I have done a scan pst and repaired it. It says something about a file that is read only.
I am sure that I am the one who created the PST and that it is totally working fine before the archive, how come it says it is read only?
My PST file cannot be opened in Outlook
Hello It seems you are having a hard time recovering your PST files, Chances are PST files are maybe corrupt, such causes are power failure, sharing and interruption within the networks a virus infection.
But damaged PST files can also be repaired by using an Inbox Repair Tool or Scanpst.exe. I will simply summarize it below to get the better picture.
You must first Exit Outlook first and click start search and find, in the option window search type scanpst.exe. but before doing that, make sure that you have enabled the show hidden files and folders because scanpst.exe is a file which is hidden. Now click search when you see the file in the result window, just double click the file to open it. Now you have to browse the corrupted PST File and click the start process repair, once done exit the tool and open the PST file.
My PST file cannot be opened in Outlook
Hi,
Use SCANPST tool and scan your PST file through it.
If you fail in this then create a new PST file and move all of your contacts into it, Then move all your emails.
Then calendar etc into it.
Close the old one first and then set mail delivery to the new file of PST.
If You face any issue then from the Mail applet in Control Panel create a new Outlook profile.
Open the Old PST file from Outlook and change the mail delivery to the PST file.
