I installed Picasa on my PC. Now, every time I open an image it uses Picasa to view the image instead of the windows picture viewer. How can I get it back to the default windows picture viewer? Picasa takes up too much viewing space.
I followed the download and installation process of Picasa here:

Default picture viewer for windows XP
Pictures have different file types such as JPG, GIF, BMP, etc. To change the default viewer of a picture, JPG for example, you have to right click on the picture and click properties.
Under the General tab you will see there a text labeled "Opens with" and just after that is the default viewer selected for the JPG image. Now to change the default viewer click on the change button.
And then select "Windows picture and fax viewer".
Now every JPG will be opened by the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. If you want to change the default viewer of other types of images you just have to repeat the process.
I hope this solution helps, please don't hesitate if you have any more questions. Thanks.
Default picture viewer for windows XP
Hello dear,
It is very easy to change the default picture viewer in Windows XP. You do not need to worry about it. Just right click on your image, and click on Properties. You will see this window.
Just click on change, then it will open this window.
Now, click on “Windows Picture and Fax viewer” and click OK. Now, it will be your default image viewer.
Thanks.
