Good day experts!
I'm planning on setting a password for my MS Access file.
This file serves as my database on one of my program created.
What steps should I do to set a password on my MS Access file?
Thanks.
Setting a Password for my MS Access DB
To create a password for your MS Access files:
- Close the database first. In case it is a shared file, make sure that all of your users have also closed the file.
- Make sure to create a backup copy of your database and have it stored in a secure place.
- Go to File menu and click on Open
- Click on the arrow to the right of Look In box and select the drive and the folder where the file is located then click on the database’s icon.
- Click on the arrow to the right of Open button, then click the Open Exclusive option
- On Tools menu, go to Security and the click on Set Database Password
- Enter your password
- Verify and confirm the password
- Click on OK
Warning:
- Microsoft Access passwords are not encrypted so to avoid compromising your files’ sensitive data, use the user-level security instead
- If you lose or forgot your password for your database, it cannot be recovered thus hindering you from opening your files
- Do not use a password if you will replicate your database because they can’t be synchronized if the password has been defined
- There is no way for you to create a password for your file if you the user-level security has been defined on your database
