Should I open acronis format file?

I found a file called acronis on my task manager. What is it? Should I open acronis format file or is it not safe? Is it a virus? What is this for?

Should I open acronis format file?

Acronis is software, not a virus.  It’s OK to open it.  It makes backups for your computer, recovers hard drive software, does bare-metal restore and system deployment, and it's a storage manager for Windows and Linux systems. 

Acronis has a number of products, like Acronis True Image, Acronis Rescue Media, and Acronis Secure Zone.  You can check out its website:

Should I open acronis format file?

Dear Conrad Nelson,

When you find a suspicious file on your computer and do not know where it comes from, you should scan it with antivirus software before opening it, or if you not antivirus software installed on your device you can scan it online with online scan software you can use avast  online software scan on the following link.

After scanning it you are free to open it if the file was not infected.

Should I open acronis format file?

If you have an Acronis program installed on your computer, Acronis helps making a bootable recovery disk that will boot to the menu of the program you have installed. Follow the steps below to perform a recovery:

 

1. Make the recovery disk.

2. Transfer the .tib file to an external hard drive.

3. Connect it to the computer you want to restore the .tib file to and restore it.

 

Acronis makes disk imaging software for Microsoft operating systems called Acronis True Image, which is able to restore an image that has been previously captured to another disk.

 

It replicates the contents and structure of the new disk and has options for partitioning, resizing and cloning of disks.
