Hi,
When I was trying to downgrade my java application software in my computer. I got this error:
Java Setup
Error 1714.The older version of Java(TM) 6 Update 14 cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.
I tried to run the program again and it gets stuck on exactly the same part. I tried to uninstall the whole thing but when I re-installed it my program won’t even run. What can I do to fix this?

Error in installing java environment
I 've read that ERROR 1714  in Java installation has no permanent solution,it's still unknown at the moment but they are still searching for the solution for this one.  But you can try clearing your cache history because sometimes all those copied data from your  browser can cause delays in installation and this even slows down the entire processing of the data. This is necessary / essential for several Java application to permit / allow the installation or loading of the system.  You can also try deleting all versions of Java application on your system to avoid  occurring of errors. This is a temporary solution to fix the problem while your waiting for the permanent one.
I hope that this will help. Thanks.

Error in installing java environment
For now, the exact reason for this error is still unknown as of this time. Java has yet to find a solution or a fix for this problem. ERROR 1714 is an Install Shield error code and it indicates that the installation process has failed. This might have been caused when there are distractions to the installation of java like slow internet connection or there might be some delay coming from the server to keep the installer from installing the proper files. The only way around it for now is to uninstall the Java software.
This is how you uninstall java:
-
Click on the start button and go to control panel.
-
Select add/remove programs in the control panel
-
A list will appear after clicking add/remove programs. Find Java runtime and click uninstall.
After doing that, download the offline installation package of Java and install.
