How does a random access memory function and what is the best specification for such device, in terms of using it for a business?

Well, the Random Access Memory of a computer functions as a temporary storage of the computer. It is where temporary files to be accessed from the Hard Disk are stored in your RAM. After using the file, the data stored in you RAM will be then deleted. Anyway, the specifications that is right for your system also depends.

If your business uses heavy applications, then go for a huge RAM memory; however, if your only using it for small applications, then have an average RAM memory. Just make sure that your RAM is compatible with your system. You see, your hardware has also its own specifications like the number of RAM you are able to plug in, the maximum RAM capacity, and the ram frequency your system supports. Just go for 2-4 GB of RAM.

It would probably be enough with your system. Make sure its frequency is supported by your system. And also, take advantage of all the slots available. Fill in all of the slots of your motherboard for better performance.

Random Access Memory or simply RAM is the piece of device you install on your CPU to make a computer work. A computer will not run if it doesn’t have any memory card installed. It is a type of data storage that stores data temporarily where data remains while the computer is running and plugged in to a power source and erases all data once it is turned off.

In this type of device, stored data is directly accessed and in any random. The amount of RAM you install has an effect on the performance of the computer with regards to the operating system you are running. The smallest amount of RAM you can install before was 256 MB, this is for the DDR1 type and this type is now obsolete though you can still purchase some but it is no longer being manufactured.

If you are running Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, or Windows Millennium, this amount is enough. But if you’ll be running Windows XP and higher, 256 MB is very small and your computer will surely suffer. Increasing the amount of RAM will improve the performance of the computer because it can now store more data directly to the memory instead of passing it through the page file or the swap file.
