BlackBerry Link installation fails because of the previous versions of file

Hello Everyone,

I get this error when trying to install BlackBerry Link. I cannot think of any more methods to resolve this issue and Google had no helpful suggestion to offer. The error tells me that a previous version of the file is preventing the installation of the link. System restore is disabled on this system. I tried to manually remove the BlackBerry Desktop software by deleting registry entries, files, drivers and software. And then I rebooted it. This did not help the situation in any way. Can anyone find a solution to this? Thanks a million for your help.

Some of the installation files from the previous versions of

the software could not be removed. Make sure that no

other application is using these files.

When you try to install your BlackBerry Link it is quiet natural that the older version may create an issue. To get around this issue, uninstall your older version. Go to your Control Panel and there select ‘Programs and Features’. Next, select ‘BlackBerry Desktop Software’ from the list that appears and then click ‘Uninstall’ button. But make sure to place a check next to ‘Remove all user settings for BlackBerry Desktop Software before you click uninstall. Then click’ Next’ followed by ‘Ok’ and then ‘Finish’ to complete the whole process. Now you restart your computer and then install the BlackBerry Link.

Or, this occurs as Mscoree.dll is in use for 10 minutes after you /un-install the assemblies. When your start another installation, installer tries to load its own version of Mscoree.dll to install the assemblies for the new program and as already there exists another version of Mscoree.dll so the failure happens. Follow the following steps:-

Restart your computer and wait for 10 minutes for .NET to finish its loading and then install your BlackBerry Link. If it doesn’t then

Go to Control Panel —-Administrative Tools —–Services —–Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0. Double click on this to open and change the Startup type to’ Manual’. Next click Apply and then Ok. Again restart your machine and install the BlackBerry Link. Later, you can change your Startup type to’ Automatic’.
