How can I resolve the 403 Forbidden Error in XAMPP? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling XAMPP but I still have this problem. I'm using XAMPP 1.7.4 in Windows 7 64-bit.

Error 403 has something to do with security. To fix this all you have to do is go to your XAMPP folder, go to apache-conf-extra and then open httpd-xampp.conf. Delete the code that's in there and replace it with the following code:

How to Fix 403 Error in XAMPP

Hello!

Having an error 403 it means you’re having an error in directory, corrupted directory or the directory is not really exist. So to fix this problem, try my instruction bellow and see if this will work if not please let me know:

Step 1: Search then virtual host configuration file then launched it.

pico /etc/apache2/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf

Step 2: Find your virtual host definition, make sure that it was there if not you need to create it

<VirtualHost *:80>

ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost
DocumentRoot "/Users/yourusername/Sites/mysite"
ServerName mysite.local
ErrorLog "/private/var/log/apache2/mysite-error_log"
CustomLog "/private/var/log/apache2/mysite-access_log" common 

</VirtualHost>

Step 3: Go to /etc/host file then you need to add the virtual host name like this:

# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.

127.0.0.1          localhost
255.255.255.255    broadcasthost
::1                localhost 
fe80::1%lo0        localhost

Step 4: You can now start the Apache and this must be successfully working

sudo apachectl restart
