Mkv format and Galaxy phone

I am going to buy Samsung android Galaxy S series phone. I am curious to know whether it supports .mkv video formats by default?

Hello Eric,

You will be happy to know that almost all models of Samsung galaxy S series phone supports .mkv movie format. But if you are going to buy Galaxy S1 then you will not be able to play videos of more than 720p. On the other hand, phones like S2 and S3 support both 720p and 1080p as well.

Yes, Samsung android Galaxy S series support the playing of an mkv format video (see full specification http://www.samsung.com/uk/galaxys/specs.html ). Video supports 1280 x720 of high definition video playing and recording at the speed of 30 feet per second. Aside from mkv format it also supports DivX, XviD, MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, VC-1 format: 3gp(mp4), AVI(divx), MKV, FLV, and H.263Sorenson.
