Is it possible to remove portable hard drive's USB from computer? IF it is possible, then how can i remove my portable USB from it? Will using USB in portable hard drive cause any harm to my computer? If it does, then how can i use it safely?
If you are done using a portable hard drive that is attached to your computer, you can remove it by clicking the "Safely Remove" Icon and Ejecting the External Hard drive before physically detaching the drive itself.
The only potential harm of External USB Storage devices is the risk of being infected by a virus or any malicious program which can only happen if the External device has been used on another machine that is infected by such virus or program.
To ensure that the device is always safe, make sure that you have an anti-virus program installed in your computer and that it is always updated. Always make it a point to scan your external storage first after you connect it to your computer and before actually using it.
Normally, when you have a removable USB device installed, Windows displays a small icon in the notification area (the right most collection of icons) of your task bar:
The purpose of "Safely Remove Hardware" is simple: it's how you tell Windows that you're about to remove a device so that Windows can finish whatever it needs to do with it.
Anything or any device connected to your computer via the USB port can be safely removed. When you connect a USB device such as an external hard drive or a USB flash drive on your computer, a green arrow icon appears on the system tray. It is called the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon which automatically appears whenever a USB device is connected to one of the USB ports.
Now, to disconnect or remove your USB device safely from the computer, click on the green arrow icon once and then select “Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device.” It will then disconnect the device from the computer.

Another way is to double-click on the green arrow icon to bring up the “Safely Remove Hardware” dialog. Here, select your USB device from the list then click “Stop.”

On the other hand, there are times the USB device cannot be removed. A message will appear saying the device cannot be removed or disconnected from the computer because it is busy. In this case, log off from your computer then log in back. Safely remove the USB device again.
