Copying shortcuts through Active Directory

I am currently considering using a certain program to copy shortcuts through Active Directory. This is because I am tired of creating the shortcuts on users’ desktops that are part of a certain security group by going to notes field of the group properties: CSC “desktop”, “clinical”, \servershareshortcut.url, and “folder”. Copying the shortcuts is therefore much simpler than this; however, I am not familiar with the program as I cannot figure out how to do copy these shortcuts. I am aware that the application I am using has a certain icon for this purpose. Please help.

Copying shortcuts through Active Directory

Hi,

I agree with you, it is tiresome to add shortcuts on user's desktops. You mentioned that you are using a certain program to copy shortcuts through Active Directory. It would help if you could name the software that you use to copy shortcuts through Active Directory.

You can try these alternative solutions:

1. Try the Group policy loopback software. You just need to create a log on script for the users and you can copy them to the desktops.

2. Another solution is to create an msi and load it to the Active directory.

3. You can also place the shortcut in a database that is accessible to all the users.

Hope this information helps you.
