Problem with my connection to the computer

Which is good to use, when connecting my modem to my computer. An Ethernet cord or a USB cord?

Please help me understand this.

Almost all modems and networking devices support both Ethernet and USB connections. Both network types serve the same purpose, and either will work in most situations.
Computer users can reconfigure their modem between Ethernet and USB whenever needed but both interfaces cannot be connected simultaneously. Both cannot be connected at the same time.
Now, for your question, using Ethernet is a better option. It is also much more preferred by most computer users. Ethernet is much more reliable because you are less likely to experience dropping connections and slow response time to your modem.
Ethernet cables/cords are so much more longer and can reach a distance of a 100 meters, while USB cable runs are limited to approximately 5 meters.
Ethernet does not require device driver installation. It also supports higher performance networking. However, USB cords are cheaper than Ethernet cords. Cheapest price for an Ethernet cord is $7 and a USB cord costs $4. But $3 makes a huge difference in performance, and the price difference is not that big.

So I strongly suggest that you go with an Ethernet.

The better cable to use, when connecting your computer to the modem is the Ethernet cord. This is more reliable than using a USB cable.
The communication done by both devices is much faster, when using the Ethernet cord. This is much preferred by almost all users. The USB cord is only good for file transferring or configuration purposes. But I would also like you to know that, it is not recommended to use both cords at the same time.
The computer will not know which connection to use.
