I have a dell studio 1537 with everything in it is factory and i got a few years ago.Someone dropped it and the screen broke.I needed to know if there was a way to force a secondary monitor as the main monitor on the start up.(I have a TV with hdmi port and a monitor). Please help me!!
How to fix a secondary monitor on a laptop?
HI
Yes you can do this. I think your LCD is damaged but not the main display so you can connect another display device through HDMI or VGA port and use the Fn+F8 to see the desktop on other display device.
OR
You can also set this by going display properties through control panel to set 2nd display device.
How to fix a secondary monitor on a laptop?
1. First of all you need to connect the monitor to your laptop with your HDMI cable (if your monitor doesn't support HDMI get a HDMI to VGA/DVI converter) you can buy it from here.
2. Turn your laptop on and then  close the lid of your laptop quickly. You will need an external keyboard and mouse for this to work as you know it.
3. Now the laptop will start with the externally connected monitor as it's the main display.
