What is a Raspberry Pi and how does it work? What are its dimensions?
Raspberry Pi now out in the market
Raspberry carries out the function of a computer that you can plug an LCD or your tv to. It is not a handheld or a tablet that contains apps once you open it, it is a single board computer. It can execute, read and do a spreadsheet, word documents, even watch and play a movie or a game.
It originally is for the purpose of teaching computer science subject in schools. The foundation announced that Raspberry Pi shall have it cased at the start of summer. Fedora Linux shall be the operating system and an SD card for memory storage and power shall be used. It can also stand alone with a powered by a 5v MicroUSB or 4 AA battery cells that should be plugged to a wall plug.
The 2 models of Raspberry Pi are: Type A with 256 MB RAM and one USB port for the mouse or keyboard but has no Ethernet port. Type B with 256 MB RAM, has 2 USB ports for keyboard and mouse and an Ethernet port for the internet or WiFi. Processors same as smartphones is used for both types (ARM11 processor), with a n Xbox1 or a 300 mhz Pentium 2 graphic like capabilities plus a GPU that can run a BluRay quality. With a dimension of 85.60 × 53.98 mm (3.370 × 2.125 in).

The distribution for Raspberry Pi is not yet released in a batch because, aside from its popularity, it is still running by a foundation that's why they are taking in components at a cheap price to be sold at a cheap price.
Raspberry Pi now out in the market
The Raspberry Pi is a single-board computer which is only the size of a credit card that was developed in the UK by the Raspberry Pi Foundation which is intended on inspiring the teaching of basic computer science in schools.
It has a Broadcom BCM2835 system on a chip [SoC] which includes an ARM1176JZF-S 700 MHz processor [The firmware includes a number of "Turbo" modes so that the user can attempt over clocking, up-to 1 GHz, without affecting the warranty], VideoCore IV GPU, and originally shipped with 256 MB RAM, later upgraded to 512 MB.
It doesn’t have a hard drive and uses an SD card to boot the system and for its long-term storage. See the images below to see how it looks like.
