I have installed two OS on my system i.e. Windows XP and 7. Here are the system specifications-

1. AMD phenom quad core processor.

2. 4 gb ram

3. 500 GB hard disk (sata)

The speed of games and video resembles tortoise and my XP became snail. What is/are  the resolution(s) ?

Greetings Girizh 🙂

No worries! I will surely help you with this.

As you said in your question that you have installed two Operating Systems in your PC. Logically speaking, this eats up a lot of virtual memory of your PC.

But you have got 4 GB RAM. This is enough to easily handle the load.

But before I proceed with the solution let me tell you that the factors like 'RAM size', 'Hard Disk size', 'processor brand', and so on never directly influence the working speed of your computer. These together contribute though!

Lets come to the main topic now. It appears like you want to play the latest PC Games and HD movies on your PC. These processes really need a lot of memory to run efficiently and satisfactorily. The best solution I would give you for this is to install a good graphics card(1GB and more) in your PC. Then I can guarantee you that your PC will run like a race horse!

If that's not enough, then I am giving you a series of simple steps(solutions) which you need to follow on a trial and error basis:

1) Install a good graphics card of 1GB or more.

2) Check if your PC has been infected by some virus. If YES, then reinstall your windows and then quickly install a good antivirus software and have a thorough scan of all the drives.

3) Do not have too many partitions or volumes. The best configuration would be to have 4 drives(volumes/partitions) maximum.

4) Check your drives for indexing errors.

These are the simple solutions that will help you regain your speed back. If you have any doubt or need any more help then feel free to contact.

Thank You 🙂

Hi,

You can try some easy steps to speed up your computer with both operating systems.

First of all you must need to defragment your all drive.

Some broken shortcuts are also responsible to slow your system. To do this goes to

‘Run’, then write temp ->ok. Now delete all files.

Similarly write %temp%, prefetch, recent and delete all.

Uninstalling unnecessary and auto startup programs will remove extra load of pc.

You can use software such as CCleaner, Tuneup utilities to speed up your system.
