If it’s an internal error you are experiencing, see if you can run it again after closing it. If there is no problem with the program, it should run again. Internal errors are usually temporary. If you cannot restart it and it still gives off that same error, try reinstalling it. Uninstall URL Snooper and then click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and click Disk Cleanup.
Select drive C, check “Temporary files”, and click OK. Wait for it to finish and then restart your computer. Next, install URL Snooper again and see if it works. If it doesn’t, I think it would be best to just upgrade to the latest version. Download the latest version from URL Snooper 2.33.01.
This version works on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. In case you are still experiencing an error even when using the latest version, it is possible that you are using a dial-up modem or a USB modem like those 3G wireless USB modems. In this case, you need to uninstall URL Snooper again.
After that, go to Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel and uninstall any version of WinPcap. Once removed, restart your computer. Download and install the latest version of URL Snooper. When installing, skip the part where it would normally install WinPcap. Wait until the installation is finished. After the installation, download and install the latest version of WinPcap from WinPcap 4.1.3 for Windows.
Restart the computer afterwards. Run URL Snooper and see if you can find a working network adapter and also if it can receive packets as well as find URLs. In case you still can’t make it work, here’s a little workaround in Windows XP. Open Windows Explorer then go to Tools and select Folder Options. Go to View tab.
Select “Show hidden files and folders” and uncheck “Hide protected operating system files” and click OK. Go to “C:WINDOWSinf”. Find the file “netrasa.inf” and open it with Notepad. Locate “ExcludeFromSelect” at the beginning of the file. This is normally followed by a list of drivers that the user cannot install. In the list, find “MS_NdisWanBh” and then insert a semicolon [;] at the beginning of the line.
Adding a semicolon at the beginning allows the driver to be installed. Save and then close the file. Next, click Start, Control Panel, Printers and Other Hardware, and select Add Hardware on the left panel under See Also. Click Next. Select “Yes, I have already connected the hardware” and click Next. Go at the bottom of the list and select “Add a new hardware device” and then click Next.
Select “Install the hardware that I manually select from a list [Advanced]” and click Next. From the list of “Common hardware types”, select “Network adapters” and then click Next. Under Manufacturer, select Microsoft. Under Network Adapter, select Wan Miniport [Network Monitor]. Ignore the message “This driver is not digitally signed” and click Next.
When you see “Hardware to install: Wan Miniport [Network Monitor]”, click Next. When prompted with a warning message, just ignore it and click Continue Anyway. Wait for it to finish and restart your computer. You may now use URL Snooper with your dial-up modem.
