I have a USB type Samsung ML-1610 laser printer, the printer driver has been installed without errors, but there are times the printer is suddenly unavailable or missing. When I checked the printer and faxes folder the installed printer is gone. But after I restart the computer the installed printer is there and I can print again normally. Then after sometime, the installed printer has been gone again.
I also scan my computer with Norton 360 Security version 4.0 but no virus has been detected.
What other troubleshooting procedure should I take to analyze the problem?

Hi Jerimiah,
Maybe your USB is not supported by your Windows. It is an usual thing.
Try to change the USB cable to be make sure the USB cable is not defective. Or if you are getting an error after you connected a mobile phone or MP3 player then heck the configuration options on the device itself.
To find your USB device to do the following:
1. Open the Windows Device Manager from the Control Panel.
2. You will generally see the USB device under the Unknown device category or Other device category.
Or you can download a driver finder program.
Thank you,
Lili

Maybe the problem is in the USB port you are using. Be sure that your printer’s USB cable is properly connected to the CPU’s USB port and it fits very well and not kind of loose. If you noticed that your printer went missing again, try transferring your printer to the next available USB port of the CPU. If this condition keeps on happening every now and then, try replacing your printer’s USB cable. It’s possible that the problem is in the USB cable of the printer itself.
Updating your printer driver would also help. You may also try checking your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system. Try also uninstalling your printer’s software from your computer then install it back. This will fix any corrupted files in the installation and will restore the settings back to default.
