Hello,
I am using Toshiba Laptop. System Configuration:
-
Operating System: Windows XP professional
-
RAM: 1 GB DDR2
-
Processor: Dual Core
The problem is whenever I start my laptop a message is shown "Welcome to new hardware Wizard", although I didn't install any new hardware. Please help me to solve this problem.
New Hardware Wizard shows repeatedly on my computer
This has happened to me so many times for the USB drive. It is because of not proper usage of the hardware. Ie. there is no proper shutting down of the hardware we are using. Even if we install the drivers it will again ask for the drivers. I could resolve the problem by doing the following:
You Try this – Remove the hardware that is being pop up for, now reboot your system in which it will ask for the New hardware found wizard and now try installing the driver that is actually meant for the hardware.
If problem still exists, then you can suppress the Wizard by few changes in Registry settings
By using the registry value set to disable.
-
Click on start ->Run > Regedit and then OK
-
Goto subkey in the registry and click on edit.
-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesPlugPlayParameters
-
Goto Edit Menu and click on new and then DWORD value and now right click on suppressUI and then on Modify
-
Exit the regeditor editor and restart the computer.

New Hardware Wizard shows repeatedly on my computer
Hello Bennison,
Perhaps your printer is tired as according to Microsoft it is mostly due to printer even if it was working fine previously and you haven’t done any hardware changes. Try editing related registry entries as in figure below. If problem persists check the hardware changes. For this perform the following steps.
1. Right click “My Computer”
2. Click “Properties”
3. Select “Hardware” Tab
4.Click “Device Manager”
5. Press the icon with description “Scan for Hardware changes”
6. See if there any exclamations mark against some device.
Check that device or drivers, install it properly restart system. Hope you won’t get this screen again.
1. Log on using your Administrator account on your machine.
2. Click Start and then Run and then type regedit on the text field and click OK.
3. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetEnumLPTENUM
4. Right-click on the above registry key and then click Delete.
5. Click Yes to confirm the deletion and then close the Registry Editor window and restart your computer.
After your Windows XP PC restarts, it will detect the printer and all its support. Once installed, you will not be able to see this every time you start Windows XP.
