Cannot Play a Video File

I downloaded a video file and it has an extension as .mkv. What is MKV? How can I open them? Any help is of great use to me.

Cannot Play a Video File

MKV stands for Matroska Multimedia Container Video files. Normally it supports all video players as it is a standard file format. Therefore, just check whether your video player is updated for the new CODECS. Also check whether the file is downloaded fully.

Cannot Play a Video File

MKV is matroska container file format which is supported by all of the players including the windows media player. Since you cannot play the file just check whether file is fully downloaded. Furthermore try to update the media player and turn updates on.

Cannot Play a Video File

My file is fully downloaded. And it is working in newer machine with Windows 7 as operating system. I have an OKD machine with windows XP SP1. How could I view the clip?

Cannot Play a Video File

The problem is that you are not downloaded required plugins and codecs to view the file. You can download the full pack of matroska from and the pack contains plugins, required codecs and some players too.

Or you can download VLC player which is a free player supports MKV files:

Download VLC player or GOM player both are totally free to download and you can download files on:

www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_download.html

There are more players available which supports MKV files including windows media player classic.
