Hello Everyone,
I am using Windows XP x64 and I am getting an error message while downloading something from the internet. I am using download manager through Internet explorer for downloading something from internet. The error message appears as “The server returned an error. Would you like to retry?” on 32 and 64 bit downloads with fail. If you press yes button, the download manager started process connecting, initializing with the connection rate and then the error pops up again. My download speed is >8M and there is no such thing that happens as timing out from dialup connection or something else. I would like to know that is there a server problem in this error? Can someone help me guide through this problem and how to resolve it? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in Advance
Is there a server problem in this error?
Ok Well,
I had this problem once upon a time. I also had ADSL internet connection with high speed (>2MB). Anyway I have found the reason.
Internet download manager is downloading things which are not having available for downloading. As a example if there is a video on a site and the owners of the site is published that video only for the viewing purposes. But you know the internet download manager sometimes give a button to download that video also.
This is a problem for the owners of the video since they lost the ownership of the video. In order to avoid that situation site owners now block the access of the Internet download manager. That is why you getting this error.
Is there a server problem in this error?
This problem is very interesting.
However As your internet connection is very fast then normally time out should not occur frequently. The reason could be a server internal error that is blocking the flow of data. It may be that the server is too slow to be used at that time. The download manager is unavailable for your request due to large traffic. The file is some how corrupt. All problems are up with the server.
From your point of view, it could be a problem of system files. Try downloading from another system, ifd the download is OK then you copy the content to your machine. If it works then you have a software problem. Update/ Reinstall the browser and the latest antivirus in your machine.
Thanks.
