D-Link router Wi-Fi Connectivity Issue

I had purchased and installed a D-Link WiFi router in my home. I have 2 laptops with me, which I wanted to hook up to wireless router.

One of my laptop connects well after configuring it, but the second laptop does not connect to the WiFi router. It does not even ask me for the passkey to connect to the router. My setting is set on automatic and it should discover and connect it automatically.

I’ve checked all the settings of the laptop that connect and duplicated to the one which doesn’t connect, but in vain. Please help me with this issue.

Enter the default gateway of your router in browser and remove the passkey. Try and Enter the MAC addresses of both laptops in router, and select option of Access the given mac addresses.

Now, on both laptops, go to the properties of wireless connection and then select the properties of TCP/IP protocol and turn off the option, Automatically obtain IP Address. Give both your laptops a different IP address, same subnet mask and default gateway.

See if the problem is resolved. Good Luck!

HI,

1 computer is working and 1 is not means, no problem with router and your Internet connection. What needs to be done is the settings on the computer that is not working. Possible problem is that there is already wireless network name set-up and it is conflicting with the wireless network SSID.

Here's needs to perform;

* Go to Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network and Sharing Center.
* Click on Manage Wireless Connection.
* Remove the existing Wireless Network created.
* Add a Wireless Network, do manual connect.
* Type your network name, enter your Security Key/Passphrase.

This network should automatically connect to your network when ever detects your SSID.

Hope this helps.
