Hi.
I recently found out that ( R ) is considered the same as symbol r with a circle around it in python programming. Do all other applications (example HTML) also have such shortcuts for this symbol? If not, then what are the shortcuts?
How to get the symbol r with a circle around it electronically.
The python programming language advocates the usage of such a symbol for trademark because it is not available on type writers and computer systems based on ASCII.
But the following are the shortcuts, for the given platforms, to reproduce this symbol.
1) For HTML the shortcuts are: ® or ® or ® (include the semicolons). Try the different syntaxes with the tag for your satisfaction.
2) For windows the shortcut is ALT +0174 or simply type ( R ) (without the spaces)
3) For MAC OS all you have to do is press Option+R while for Linux, you can use AltGr+R.
Hope this helps!
How to get the symbol r with a circle around it electronically.
The encircled letter “R” or sometimes (R) is the Registered sign or the registered trademark symbol. It is a symbol used indicating that the foregoing symbol or word is a trademark or a service mark that has been registered with the national trademark office. A trademark is a word, symbol, or words legally established or registered by use representing a product or company.
The registered trademark symbol or (R) has a standardized representation in the majority of computer systems. In HTML, the registered trademark symbol is mapped as “®” or & + #174;. Since the registered trademark symbol or ® has not been commonly available on typewriters as well as ASCII-based computer systems, it has been common to substitute this symbol with the characters “(R)” or “(r)”.
In HTML, to get this symbol in your page you need to use without quotes “®”, & + #174;, & + #x00AE;, or “®”.
