The process of reformatting a computer is known as re-imaging process. It is to format the damaged portions and hard drives. When it is done, the entire data gets erased and you will have to recover or restore the data back into the original places manually.

There may be many reasons behind this, but possibly it for the corrupted parts or virus affected parts or damages on the computer, which needs an option called Windows 7 Re-Image Your Computer for further usage.
