At CES 2017, on it’s 80th anniversary, the American camera company, Polaroid introduced to its existing range of cameras – the Polaroid Pop. The company had earlier introduced models like Polaroid Snap, Polaroid Snap Touch instant digital cameras, and Polaroid Zip instant photo printer. The aforementioned models and the new Polaroid Pop use the ZINK or Zero Ink Printing Technology.
Scott W. Hardy, the President, and CEO of Polaroid, said that the camera perfectly blends the nostalgia with modern-day design and functionality. The Polaroid Pop camera stays true to the values of the company and is simultaneously equipped with the latest technology that gives it a fresh appearance to dominate the modern market.
Specifications:
The camera has an integrated printer which gives the users automatically printed iconic 3X4” format color photos. With the Classic Polaroid Border Logo, the printed image has the dimension of 3.5X4.25”.
The camera has a 3.97 inch LCD touch screen for viewing the image before clicking and also allows the users to navigate the camera menus. With dual LED flash lights and a 20MP (megapixel) CMOS sensor, the photographic experience is bound to be great. The camera enables its users to record a 1080p full HD video too and a microSD card (expandable up to 128GB) to store all the images and videos recorded.
Polaroid Pop is Wifi and Bluetooth enabled, allowing the camera to transform to an instant photo printer whenever required. The user can enhance the image taken, by adding various filters, stickers, visual effects available in the Polaroid print app (compatible with iOS and Android handsets), allowing the consumers to experiment with different features, add the flair that they like the most, and share the images on-the-go.
Polaroid Pop comes with three color modes i.e. Black and White mode, Vintage Sepia mode, and the Color mode.
Ammunition, the renowned design firm is a partner with Polaroid, which helped in the designing of the Polaroid Pop camera. Ammunition has also backed the designing of several other products of Polaroid, including Polaroid Zip, the instant photo printer; Polaroid Snap, the instant camera; Polaroid Cube, the action camera.
The design of the camera is simple, stylish and modern. The infliction of a pop of vibrant color on the jet black camera body gives it a monochromatic look. The red colored shutter provides a single button shutter control which makes the camera user-friendly.
Zero Ink Printing Technology
Like various other products of Polaroid Company, Polaroid Pop, too, uses the Zero Ink Printing technique, which is a revolutionary ink-free printing technology developed by ZINK. The printing paper contains cyan, yellow, and magenta dye crystals which are colorized when the ZINK printers are activated by heat. The resultant image comes as a high quality, full colored, long lasting and smudge proof picture, and saves the consumer from the hassle of refilling ink cartridges.
The 3X4” photo gets printed within under a minute, ready to be shared with friends and family. It can even be used as a sticker for display on walls since ZINK paper has adhesive on its back side.
The price and availability of the product are yet to be declared by the company.
