Lock folder in XP without help of third party software
Hi,
You will be needing to create a batch file, this procedure it will not hide or use a special software to lock your folder.
Please see below the steps:
1. Kindly copy the batch file from the image below and put the codes in notepad.
2. When you are done, save the batch file as Key.bat.
3. Double-click on the Key.bat file and Confidential folder will be created automatically.
4. Copy or move all your files you want it private in the confidential folder.
5. Double click the Key to lock the folder then type Y to accept.
To unlock the folder, double-click on the batch file and type your password. Please take note before doing this procedure, make a test folder first and if you familiar already you may apply it.

Lock folder in XP without help of third party software
The best thing you can do is to add some users on your computer and give them a password. Then assign the user with an appropriate user type, an administrator, a power user or a guest. After making users in your computer, set a security on your folder.
Allow only some specific user that has the privilege to access the folder. For example, User A has the user right on the folder to view only the contents. The user B has the full access in the folder while User C doesn’t have any access to the folder. The folder is visible but access may depend on the user who log-in on that computer.
There are so many related questions here in techyv about setting security on the specified folder. Just find them here.
