We've been experiencing a very slow response on Windows Server 2003 specifically when we install/uninstall some programs. It took us more than a couple of hours to uninstall MS office 2007 and another 4 hours to install Office 2010. Can anyone here suggest a solution to this problem? Thank you.
Slow install/uninstall process in Windows Server
Hi Dawn, if you’re experiencing very slow response from your Windows Server 2003. There are several issues we must deal with. First and foremost, a full drive could be one culprit, another is a rogue application that continuously write service logs of every single event, or your system is being hijacked. A looping application can grab and dominate the CPU at any moment. Check also your DNS and your RAM and CPU usage. But believe it or not, sometimes it’s the AV [anti-virus] that is causing this mishap. Kaspersky is notoriously known for such baggage on the CPU. Sometimes non-Microsoft applications uses an outdated kernel mode filter driver.  Check it too, and try to uninstall it to know if that is the one causing the slow response.Â
