I want to connect a flat screen monitor on my Inspiron 7520 with AMD radeon HD 7730M. The monitor has HDMI, DP and DVI ports while the laptop has VGA and HDMI ports. I used the HDMI because I wanted the monitor to work on 2560×1440 res but it didn’t. It's very frustrating. Is there something I can do to make it work?

Barb,

Monitor highest resolution depends mainly on the capability of the monitor to display it. There are some physical limitations on the display pixel arrangements. You should check the specs of the monitor you have. The GPU is very important also, but double check on your monitor characteristics to be sure that can supports the resolution you expect or not.
