My laptop turns off if I don't have my power brick plugged in so I thought the battery was failing. However, when I ran a software to check the battery, the results were fine. I also checked the battery health info found in the BIOS and it also told me the battery was ok. What could possibly be happening here?
Laptop turns off when power adapter is plugged in
The problem is from the motherboard. There is no solution to this case, but i would recommend in buying a new laptop battery, with the same specifications like the one you have now.
The problem is that the motherboard has a protection rezistor that in case that high voltages start to travel through the circuit board, then it automatically sends a signal to shutdown the laptop automatically. The problem isn't the fact the the battery isn't charging the laptop, but the motherboard has a problem with the rezistor used for limiting the current traveling through it.
Buying a new motherboard for the laptop won't be easy, because it's very hard just to find a single motherboard for it without changing the entire unit. But there is hope because you can keep you hard drive and and speak to the laptop's vendor so it can offer you a laptop in which you can replace the hard drive with the one you have.
