Hello everyone,

I’m having a problem during activation of my windows. I’m getting activation error 0x80072f8f. Please provide the steps to solve this.

Solution 1. Sometimes this happens may be due to the certification expiration. First attempt to change the date and time.
Step1. Search for date and time in Windows search box.

Step2. Set and assure the time and date.
Step3. To change the time zone.
If this doesn’t fix the problem, the problem is with your certificate.
Solution2. The problem might be with your certificate.
Step1. Open internet explorer browser then selects internet option.
Step2. Select the security tab.

Step3. Choose trusted site and then click on Sites button.

Step4. Select the URL box, and type the complete address.

Step5. Click on Add, and then close.

You may receive error code “0x80072F8F” when activating Microsoft Windows or when installing a Windows Update. The error is basically related to your computer’s date and time settings. It seems like Microsoft doesn’t want the computer to be in the wrong date or time when activating the operating system or when installing a Windows Update. The error can be encountered on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

To fix the problem, just set the correct date and time. Try to synchronize your computer’s time with either “time.nist.gov” or “time.windows.com.” On my computer, I synchronize the time with “time.nist.gov” because “time.windows.com” doesn’t seem to work. After setting this up, select the correct time zone according to your current location.

When you are finished, try installing the Windows Update again or try activating Windows again and see if it works.
