Yes, excel formulas are a bit different from that of we use in our mathematics class, but the difference lies in the representation of the formula. The calculation remains the same. To know the excel multiplication formula, here it is –

1.) Always start your formula in excel with = sign.

2.) If you have quantities as 4 and 3 to be multiplied, then the formula for multiplication would be =4*3, and if you have three quantities say 3,4,10, then it will be =4*3*10.

3.) In case, you have the quantities in 3 different cells named B1, B2 and B3 and multiply them, then the formula will be =B1*B2*B3.

In Microsoft Office Excel, doing basic computations is pretty easy. Mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division can be done with specific commands. Like for example, if you want to do multiplication, you can use the following commands:

=product(cell1,cell2)
=product(cell1:cell2)

The first command, “=product(cell1,cell2)” is used when you want to multiply two numbers or two cells. The second command, “=product(cell1:cell2)” is used when you want to multiply multiple numbers or more than two cells. When multiplying more than two cells, use your mouse to highlight all the cells or use the Shift key together with the arrow key to select the cells you want to multiply.

You can also use the asterisk symbol (*). If you want to do addition, you can use the following commands:

=sum(cell1,cell2)
=sum(cell1:cell2)

For subtraction, you can use the minus sign (-) since there is no specific command for this operation:

=cell1-cell2

For division, you can use the slash symbol (/) when dealing with actual values or numbers and the “=quotient” command when dealing with cells:
