Whenever you encounter a problem installing Windows updates or service packs or if they fail to install because of corruption errors like damaged files, etc. The DISM or System Update Readiness tool can help you to fix the corrupted errors. These updates contain the CheckSur tool that will scan for any files or registry keys associated with the update on your system and fix them as there are installed by replacing them with good versions.
DISM stands for Deployment Image Servicing and Management. The Microsoft Windows Deployment Image Servicing and Management is an application that IT administrators can use using the PowerShell or command line to service and mount a hard disk or Windows desktop image before deploying to users. “DISM.exe” is the command line used for DISM or Deployment Image Servicing and Management.
Aside from servicing and mounting a hard drive before its deployment, it also provides information to IT administrators about the hard disks and image files. The Windows desktop image can be in the WIM format or Windows Imaging format (.wim), a virtual hard drive or Hyper-V virtual hard disk file, and also a running operating system.
IT administrators can capture, split, or manage the WIM files and use DISM to install or uninstall all three file types.
