Hi everyone,
I am using MS windows XP and having an issue with MS outlook express. I have MS outlook express 2003. The issue which has been faced by me is that whenever I want to exit OE or switch identities which I have created in it, I use to receive a specific message which is ” To free up disk space. Outlook Express can compact messages.
This may take several minutes.
To get rid of this problem I firstly clicked on the “ Do not show this message again” dialog and clicked cancel but OE continues to show the same message again.
Then I tried to solve this issue by inspecting the free space but I cam to know that there is enough free space to store as many messages as much I want to.
Finally, I copied my important messages and back them up to delete others but after doing so it is continuing to pop-up the exact message again.
Now I am very tired fixing this issue and I want to know how to fix MS Outlook express issue of free up disk space? Anyone have an idea what to do to correct this problem?
If yes, pleasE tell me.

Hi Dravide,
Seems like when the pop-up got annoying, it annoyed you further. Fret no more, for here are several fixes that could come in handy as with regards to your Outlook Express problem.
-
Switch to Classic View on your Control Panel, then go to “Indexing options”. Click on “Modify”.
-
Uncheck “Microsoft Outlook Express”. Click OK and close.
-
Run the Registry Editor to make some changes to the registry.
-
Click “Start”, and type in “regedit” without the quotes on the “run” box for XP, and “Search programs and files” for Win7. Search for this string HKEY_CURRENT_USERIdentities{identity}SoftwareMicrosoftOutlook Express5.0. Look for “Compact Check Count” and set the value to “0”. Close the registry editor.
NOTE: Make sure indexing is turned off for Outlook Express. The default setting of 100 makes Outlook Express do the compacting when it reaches a hundred launches. Do manual compacting if you use Outlook Express on a regular basis.
-
There exists a one-click one stop app to automatically fix the error for you. It is called UnCrazYer https://www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=caracolix&e=com. The application not only works on Outlook Express, it also supports Windows Live mail as well. Just download, unzip and run. It’s as easy as that.
-
Open Outlook Express, click on “File” and check “Work Offline”. Go to “File” again, then “Folder”, click on “Compact All Folders” and wait for it to complete. If it displays error message “folder in use”, just close Outlook, reopen, and repeat instructions above. Doing the manual compacting resets the Compact Count to 0.
-
Uninstall Outlook Express completely by going to your “Add/Remove Programs”, “Add/Remove windows components”, and selecting/checking Outlook Express. Wait for a few seconds to apply the changes. Finish and restart. You should no longer have Outlook Express as well as the pop-up.

How to fix MS Outlook express issue of free up disk space?
Error may keep on showing because Outlook Express is not in use on Windows XP, because Outlook Express is indexed by Windows Search. We can use Windows Indexing options and uncheck Outlook Express so that this error will not show up any more. just follow the easy steps below.
1. Click Start > Control Panel, and switch to classic view.
2. Click Indexing Options, and then click the Modify button.
3. Uncheck the checkbox before: Microsoft Outlook Express.
4. Click OK, and then click Close to save the settings.
If this problem persists, I would like to confirm if the error occurs when you start up the computer. If this is the situation, we can also disable the Outlook Express program from the startup menu by the steps below:
1. Right – click Start button, and choose Properties from popup menu.
2. Choose Start Menu tab.
3. Click "Classic Start Menu" radio button and choose the Customize button.
4. Click the Remove button.
5. Click on "Outlook Express" to highlight it.
6. Click Remove button.
