This error happens when your driver failed when you change your windows power modes. For example you just come out of standby or hibernation mode.
The DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE bug indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or in an invalid power state. The bug check has the value of “0x0000009F”. Generally, this message only appears during the BSOD or the Blue Screen Of Death where your entire screen is in blue and contains full of information about the error that has happened.
This problem doesn't only happen with Windows 7 but with other operating systems as well like Windows XP and Windows Vista.
This problem is usually associated with a driver problem following an installation. I usually encounter this BSOD before especially whenever I tweak on the “uxtheme.dll” file of Windows XP so I can install different themes on Windows.
This is the Microsoft UxTheme Library and handles the themes used by Windows.
I usually fix this problem by restoring the original file. If this problem happened to you after doing an installation, go to Safe Mode and then uninstall the software you previously installed and then restart again the computer to Normal Mode.
